I have natural black hair but I want it to be a light brown. If I used a blonde dye, would it give me that light brown colour that I want?Dying natural black hair a light brown?
i think you need to go to a salon and get it done because i have really black hair and i wanted it to be light brown too, i bought blonde hair coloring and my hair turned out really bad and it got damaged a lot. at the salon theyre gonna de-color all of your hair and then put the color on. doing that will also damage your hair but if its the color you want go for it. just buy a good conditioner and dont blow dry/staighten/curl for a good while....good luck!Dying natural black hair a light brown?
the volume of peroxide that comes in the box colors probably is not be enough to lighten your hair, i would go to a colorist and have them do a strand test to see what volume works best....also the process is not just putting the color on the hair, you have to start with the ends to about 1 1/2 inch from the roots let that process 20 min then go back and do the roots for 20 min, it can be too messy to do yourself......and if you use a blond on your natural black, you'll be a horrible shade of orange and probably patchy at that!!!!
there is so much science behind what color you need to pick you should go to a salon. Since you are going lighter never use the over the counter stuff you pick up at wal-mart. You will end up with a mess.

Does anyone know of any hairstylists that specialize in natural black hair in Memphis, TN?
I just had the rest of my permed hair cut off (I've been in transition for over a year), so I'm looking for someone that can style my hair and also teach me how to care for my hair the RIGHT way. :-)Does anyone know of any hairstylists that specialize in natural black hair in Memphis, TN?
I went natural back in 2003 and it has been the best. I don't see a hairstylist any more. I press and curl my own hair. I had to learn how to do my own hair and believe, it is now shoulder length strong and healthy. I clip my ends once a month and wash once a week. I use Design essentials or Kera Care products. Let me know if you would like more information.

Someone with natural black hair go blonde?
I have natural black/brown hair, golden brown eyes and a lighter olive tone skin. Ive gone a light brown before but i would love to go to golden blonde. I did the whole ';look at your wrist veins and see if their blue or green'; thing and some were green some were blue:P. I am an autumn and i have golden undertones to my skin. some think im asian, some filipino, some aboriginal but i am just Caucasian... my family came from Europe and Holland. do you think i would be able to go blonde? Thank youSomeone with natural black hair go blonde?

No one can answer that question but you. Go to a wig shop and try on a blonde head - see if it suits you. For goodness sake, don't bleach your head only to find out that you hate it and then have to try and die it back - you will really damage your hair.
forget trying to do things yourself go to the salon

Tips on dying brown hair back to my natural black hair?
My natural haircolor is a soft black and i had previously dyed it a light brown so now its a brown. I want to dye it back to my natural black and not mess with it ever again! =] any tips on making sure my whole head stays black and the color doesnt fade? thanks =]Tips on dying brown hair back to my natural black hair?
sure, what you will have to do is probably colour your hair red first as this puts a base back into the hair that lightening takes out (a non permanent red is fine to use %26amp; this is what a hairdresser would do when darkening up lightened hair, it is so the darker colour has something to stick to to prevent it from washing out and fading), then choose and dye your hair the shade of black you want.
It is ok to do this whole process in one day and as you are darkening your hair, the colour process wont harm your hair.
If going to do this i recommend having a hair dryer handy to dry hair off after putting red in and before putting dark shade in.
also a little serum to comb through the newly coloured dark hair would make it gorgeous and glossy :)
Used to have dyed black hair for years and often went from black to light brown and back to black again.
Hope this has helped in any way.

My husband thinks that it is genetically impossible for caucasians to have natural black hair is this true?
Your husband is wrong, wrong, wrong and needs to get out from the rock he lives under.
Ummm, Irish, English, Italians, Greeks, Turks, some Russian, and some of the French, depending on where their ancestors are from (eg, the Mediterranean). I worked with a guy who was from Turkey, white skin and jet black hair.

Perhaps he means the ORIGINAL Caucasians, who lived in the Caucus (or Caucasus, i forget which) Mountains, thousands of years ago? almost nobody now would have pure Caucasus blood.

Is natural Black hair with Blue eyes an unusual combination?
Not many people have black hair and blue eyes, but the effect is pronounced and quite lovely.
Having natural Black hair and blue eyes is commonly a Celtic trait. If you are of European origin, my guess would be that you have a Celtic background. My grandfather was Welsh and he had dark hair and bright blue eyes.
I've also heard of Indian people having similar characteristics. Is natural Black hair with Blue eyes an unusual combination?
No, I know a few people who have them. The contrast is very striking. I like how it looks.

Does garnier 100% 426 (intense deep burgundy which looks purple) work on natural black hair?
i want to highlight my hair n highlighting kits for purple r basically rubbish so im planning to use this dye. Does garnier 100% 426 (intense deep burgundy which looks purple) work on natural black hair?
You'll probably get, at most, a purple sheen to your black hair. For it to show up as actually purple, you'll need to use bleach.

Is it true that there is no such thing as ';true natural black hair';?
I heard somebody said that the darkest of natural black hair is a very dark shade of brown. Nobody has ';true natural black'; hair. Just a very dark shade of brown. Is this true or is completely false? Is it true that there is no such thing as ';true natural black hair';?
No, there is no truly black hair.
Look at it this way...
If someone had true black hair then they wouldn't be able to lighten it with bleach no matter how hard they tried. Every layer they pulled off with bleach would just have a black layer underneath it.
However, I've seen plenty of blacks, Asians, Indians, Arabics, Hispanics, Italians and Greeks dye their hair a light brown and even blond. That wouldn't be possible if their hair was true black down to the root.
My hair is two shades away from black. It's considered a Level 3 or 4 and called Darkest Brown (or Brown-Black). Black hair is simply considered the darkest of all browns. Even if it has a blue shine to it, it still can be lightened to blond. Hence, it's not true black.
Think of it like a black hole that absorbs all light and releases nothing.
Another good example is a bacarra rose (black rose). It's not truly black, it's so dark red it looks black. But there's no such thing as a black rose.
The only way to have truly black hair is to remove all other color from it (including the blue or purple shine). That's what black is. An absence of color.
Definition of ';Black'; from Dictionary.com:
http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q鈥?/a>
1. Lacking hue and brightness; absorbing light without reflecting any of the rays composing it.
2. Characterized by absence of light; enveloped in darkness: a black night. Is it true that there is no such thing as ';true natural black hair';?

ABSOLUTELY NOT!my friend has black hair.and african american people?some of them have black hair.but that doesnt really matter.does it?
its rare to have true blak hair but some people do. nobody has black eyes though
Most people that appear to have black hair just have really intense dark brown hair when it's looked under a microscope.
However, if you truly have black hair, it appears blue or purple under a microscope.
But very few people have naturally actual black hair, unless you're like Asian, etc.
no thats a lie.. my friend has reallly reallly natural black hair, she wanted to die it to a lighter color and she had to bleach it since her hair is so dark

Will a Dominican blowout work on my natural black hair (type 4a/b)?
I have natural African American kinky/nappy hair, and I have been looking for ways to straighten it other than hot combing, flat ironing, or perming/relaxing. Will a Dominican blowout work on my hair? Will a Dominican blowout work on my natural black hair (type 4a/b)?
Technically, yes it will work on both types of hair. However, if your hair is primarily 4b it may not make your ends as smooth as you like. My hair is 4b and the ends never get totally smooth, unless I've just has a hair cut. Personally, I think flat ironing works best for my hair.

I have natural black hair and want it auburn, what to do?
My hair is a natural black already no dye or anything just black. I don't want to go to the salon at all just box. Can anyone help me on this?I have natural black hair and want it auburn, what to do?
it wont turn out if you use a box.... it just wont sorry :(I have natural black hair and want it auburn, what to do?
If you want it to look good, go to the salon. If you don't mind the outcome of the box color which isn't reliable, use box.
You will have to bleach it. It will be a damaging process and will require 2 or 3 bleaches but you can get box bleach kits.
bleach your hair an then put a auburn color on top of it. i would reccomend going to the salon though cause box colors can get messy. exspecially if u decide on coloring your hair again
dye it

Do men like natural black hair on asians?
I'm asian.
Which do you prefer?
Natural black hair?
Dyed Hair? (what colour?)Do men like natural black hair on asians?
Natural is always the best choiceDo men like natural black hair on asians?
I do. My Wife is Korean and every girl before her was Asian. I always told them I liked the black hair. I love it! I know some Asian girls think about dying their hair or getting colored contacts, or in extreme cases, getting that eye lid surgery to make their eyes look more caucasian. I find all of these do nothing for looks, you're all beautiful! My Daughter has Asian eyes and black hair...i'll tell her the same if it ever comes up.
Most Asian people look best with black hair or dark brown hair. Sometimes highlights can make hair look more lively, but I hate to see Asians with brassy orangey blonde hair. It doesn't do anything for them.
natual black hair.

Naturally black, definitely. Asians always have the prettiest hair.
Doesn't matter who you are or where you came from -- most men like natural hair color on women. Personally, I REALLY like natural black hair on Asian women.

Highlights for a pale Asian with natural Black hair? Best Answer will be Chosen~?
Hi,
I wanted to know what highlights look best for someone like me.
I am Asian, have natural black hair, round-faced, and pretty pale.
I am also a college student, so I don't want my highlights to look drastic...I just want to look nice. I heard that highlights allow round faces appear slimmer. Also, additional info: I have a Cleopatra hairstyle (in Korea, it's the Wondegirls' cut) and it is medium length.
Much Thanks.Highlights for a pale Asian with natural Black hair? Best Answer will be Chosen~?
im also asian and i have natural black hair too
a while ago i got light brown highlights and dyed it medium-dark brown
so it looks like a have natural brown hair if that makes sense
and even if your hair starts growing it still looks ok
but if you think brown is too cliche
maybe you should get blonde highlights
not like bleach londe or anything but if you do it right then it should look good with the hair you have.Highlights for a pale Asian with natural Black hair? Best Answer will be Chosen~?
First you should go one hair shade lighter, so it's like a little brown (but I mean a LITTLE lighter). Then get low lights and high lights. The stylist would probably choose and variety to different shades and tints to make it look more natural and it wouldn't be very drastic.
to not make a huge difference between colors, u can use light brown, blonde is way to drastic compared to black. it will look weird.
A light brown color would be pretty as a highlight against black hair.
this is just my opinion, but blond will look a bit artificial (cause it will be). if you go with something a bit darker like medium to golden brown it will be more natural and soft looking. i always thought that a deep dark blue was really awesome. it almost plays tricks on your eyes. you can see them but only in the light. they are almost unnoticeable
i have provided some links to photos so that you can see the contrast of colors.

Salon Professionals:What happens if i dye my natural black hair blonde?
People said it will probably turn orange but what if i leave it for less minutes? P.S I'm aiming for a light brown colorSalon Professionals:What happens if i dye my natural black hair blonde?
Well for one thing. You would have to bleach your hair to get it to blonde. And your hair will be left an orange color. Which is what it's suppose to be because bleach strips the color from hair and leaves the base for all hair colors which is orange. And then, you are suppose to put in the blonde color you wanted. That's how it works for darker-haired people because it's hard to achieve a light color. Lighter-haired people can easily dye their hair (with the right shade) and get the color they want.Salon Professionals:What happens if i dye my natural black hair blonde?
If I were you I wouldn't go for a light brown. The bleaching will damage your hair. If you dont have gray hairs I dont think you should dye your hair. If you do or just wana change your hair color go for a dark brown.
It will turn a sickly brown- with a greenish tint. I wouldn't try going black immediately. Dye it a dark brown first, then move on to dying it black.skin care

How often do caucasians have natural black hair?
is this common? i am simply asking out of curiosityHow often do caucasians have natural black hair?
not common at allHow often do caucasians have natural black hair?
do you mean black as in racial blacks, or black as in the hair color? caucasians often have natural black colored hair...but as for black as in ethnic black, its very uncommon. usually, though their skin would look white, they have a black ancestor somewhere in their lineage that gave them their hair.
now, i have a friend who is an albino black...her hair is bleach blonde, but with the texture and look of black hair, and her skin is ghost white. i imagine shes a rare exception tho.
never. when its dark, its always just dark, dark brown. not black.

How do I restore my natural black hair?
Two years aqo, I dyed my natural black hair. Since then, I've chanqed the color a couple times. The black hair was real nice, so I decided I want it back. well i'm asian and i've went from natural black to brown, and eventually to blonde with light brown highlights. they had to bleach my hair because my hair was so dark....however, my mexican friends can dye their hair from black to brown without bleaching...so i think it depends on ur hair type. if you dont wanna go to a salon, i suggest you buy light brown and dye it yourself to see if it will show on your hair. if it doesnt work then you will definately have to bleach it.How to dye natural black hair to brown ?
Natural hair can lift up to 5 levels. It will probley turn around a dark brown, if your lucky a little lighter. But it will lift to a brown.

How do you define/promote curl in natural black hair that is not ';kinky'; but not straight.?
Make every other wash a co-wash. That is just using a conditioner instead of shampoo.
Don't scrunch your hair on your head like in commercials when you shampoo. Its damaging to any type of hair but curly hair is usually more fragile than straight hair. Just get a little soapy suds on the scalp but not the ends. When you rinse, the soap will clean the fragile ends.
Use a wide tooth comb to comb and detangle hair before you wash or co-wash.
Get a gentle leave-in conditioner and finger comb it in and let hair air dry.
Finger comb your hair while wet, accent the curls by winding them gently on your fingers, but don't stretch or scrunch them.

African-American Natural Black hair..Will a semi-permanent dye work? ?
Okay i have natural african american hair--Not really as course as some. It's a little bit more wavy.--and it is black. but I was wondering if I would be able to get a semi-permanent dye or a rinse. Would the color show good because I read that curly hair is harder to color because of the curls and the fact my hair is black. I know for a fact, though, that I don't want my hair bleached or permanently dyed. PLEASE HELP.African-American Natural Black hair..Will a semi-permanent dye work? ?
Not true at all sweety! Actually your hair has the best base for coloring because its natural. Creme of nature is a cream coloring system that works really good and it caters to African hair types. What I do suggest is using a hair color booster to lighten up your dark tresses and if your not sure on what to do, see a professional hair stylist that caters to your hair type.African-American Natural Black hair..Will a semi-permanent dye work? ?

I have natural black hair but with a small section of gray hair in the crown of my head,is this a mole?
it's only in the only spot where I have this color. I did have a blonde section closer to my face when I was a baby...it has changed and moved towards the crown on my head. I didn't like it, so I would pull it, but now I want to see how looks with my natural black hair.I have natural black hair but with a small section of gray hair in the crown of my head,is this a mole?
I had a friend who had a white spot that was caused by a birth mark so it's possible.I have natural black hair but with a small section of gray hair in the crown of my head,is this a mole?
Yes, a mole animal is growing in your hair. Creepy. I feel sooo sorry for you!

Dark hair, pale skin, and light eyes is the sexiest combination of things ever.
I prefer girls with dark skin, dark eyes, and dark hair.

coming from a bisexual girls point of view and the fact that's how i look, but with naturally dark dark brown hair ( not black) its sexy. I love the ';goth'; girl look. A lot of guys seem to like too: with the exception of the really preppy boys.
It's cool. Some of my friends have that, and they are beautiful. Be confident!!

I Have Natural Black Hair. I Decided To Put Bleach Highlights In Today Now My Hair Is Dry And Breaking. Help?
My Hair Looks Awful. If I Dye It Back Tomorrow Will That Just Make It Worse? What Can I Do To Get It Back To Normal Without Cutting It?I Have Natural Black Hair. I Decided To Put Bleach Highlights In Today Now My Hair Is Dry And Breaking. Help?
No it's permanent, you need to grow it out or fill it %26amp; go darker. Lowlights is also an option. You have to fill with a gold tone before you color because you have removed the pigment when you bleached. Then put the desired color over your entire hair. Don't use ';box color'; it's unpredictable %26amp; contains metallics that can leave permanent lines in your hair if you change color products. Go to Sally's Beauty Supply they have more professional products %26amp; they can assist you in your purchase %26amp; the prices are better. Use good products not Pantene, Herbal Essence %26amp; Garnier they are silicone products. They make you hair nice at first but as the silicone builds up it locks out moisture your hair weakens %26amp; breaks. Use pro products they last longer because you use less so the extra expense is worth it. The shampoos don't contain a detergent lathering agent so it's weird at first because you are used to lather. Great specialty products are, Nioxxin, Joico K-Pak Reconstructor also Silk Results, Rusk has New Pro Elements Keratin. Nexxus has Humectruss %26amp; Keraphixx. Big Sexy has good general products. Take Biotin %26amp; Vitamin E.I Have Natural Black Hair. I Decided To Put Bleach Highlights In Today Now My Hair Is Dry And Breaking. Help?
Get a deep conditioning treatment, if you go to the drugstore you could try Neutrogena Triple Moisture deep recovery mask:
http://www.drugstore.com/qxp86558_333181_sespider/neutrogena/triple_moisture_deep_recovery_hair_mask.htm
or go to the salon and ask for a deep conditioner from them which would be more pricey. You could also buy a serum if you go to the drugstore or Target try:
http://www.organixhair.com/coconutmilk.asp
you could get the shampoo and conditioner as well, I like them very much, they are moisturizing and have no harsh chemicals and work well.
After using these products for awhile and getting your hair stronger you could dye your hair back to normal or if you must right away, just remember to moisturize like crazy and use the serum afterwards.
first of all, bleach strips your hair of EVERYTHING. of course it's dry and breaking!!! you need to use protein conditioners, deep conditioners, and leave in conditioners! you cannot use bleach and expect your hair to look great afterwards. it takes some time to get your hair back into a mangeable state. i suggest using products like aussie 3 minute deeep conditioner, v05 hot oil treatments, hask placenta, CHI leave in conditioner. etc etc!
The more chemicals you put on it the dryer it will be. You need a good conditioner like Biolage Conditioning Balm. Or the Extreme line by Redkin is very good. They have a product called Anti-Snap that helps put protein back in your hair and strengthen it. B/c black hair is very difficult to lift to a lighter shade the bleach probably got left on too long. I would not recommend coloring it again for awhile.
Whoops! I would say, don't take the chance to dye it again. Leave it how it is, and use a deep conditioner on it. Try Garnier Fructis.... I don't remember the name but its in a little green tub with an orange top. Do not use ANY heat on it and do NOT comb or brush it when its wet. A salon may be your only option.
Go to a hairdresser and have them help you, You should never try to highlight your own hair. Your hair is damage and needs professional help. There are reasons we have license to color hair!skin care

Why is that Im latino(Salvadorean desent) with Natural black hair?
But I Find Red and blonde hairs all over a few parts of my body? why is that i pick them out but they grow back, so Im sure that its just not stuck on or anything. Why is that Im latino(Salvadorean desent) with Natural black hair?
well you probably have some Caucasian background, i have the exact same thing happening to me on my facial hair. Red, black, and blonde hairs all over my face haha. Why is that Im latino(Salvadorean desent) with Natural black hair?
I'm half Salvadorean(and half black) and I have natural black hair too; also I have little blond hairs that grow out of parts of my body as well. Well, I don't know what to tell you, perhaps your hair is dark cause Salvadoreans are more mixed with native blood than european? As for the red and blond hair, that probably goes to show how mixed you probably are(with caucasian), cause all hispanics are mixed.
Some Spanish ancestry in there presumably

When it comes to having beautiful, full hair my best answer would be henna. Make sure you don't use lemon or lime juice in your recipe when you make the henna as they can cause your hair to break if it's already weak. Rain water is usually acidic enough to get a nice colour out of the henna as well and won't harm your hair further. Try using the henna as often as you can it should thicken your hair and keep it healthy. If you don't want the red of the henna you may want to look for ';neutral'; or ';colourless'; henna. It will do as nice a job for your hair but without the colour. With the neutral henna you just have to mix it with tap water, this should be used as often as possible. If there are any skin problems on your scalp the henna or neutral henna will both help fight it. The last idea I have would be to take coconut oil and massage your head with it every night. Make sure when you're washing out the oil you're using a gentle shampoo, even better a henna shampoo. I wish you luck.
first off make sure you regularly moisturize your hair and the ends of it in particular because if your hair is dry it breaks and it stay the same length and makes it seem like it don't grow.

Keep it braided, moisturized and conditioned. Keep the scalp clean and build up free... don't use products containing mineral oil or petroleum. Don't use heat. Don't use rubber bands or gel.
Eat well, take vitamins.
I have naturally black hair that's a bit frizzy and wavy. Straight after I wash it, I run a smoothing serum through it so that my hair is smooth and shiny. Seems to prevent it from breaking and drying out and, to answer your question, stunt it from growing. Hope that helps? Good luck.
Keep your hair moisturized.
At night, or even during the day, keep it braided.
Use a wide-toothed comb. Comb your hair every morning and every night. Combing too much will make your ends break %26amp; your hair won't grow.
Use shampoos and conditioners made for ethnic hair. Regular products sometimes make ethnic hair too greasy and heavy.
Deep conditoner your hair once or twice a week.
Get your ends cut every 6-8 weeks to prevent split ends.
Getting all your vitamins will work too, and drink lots of water!
hope this helps...
Protective Styling is definitely on my TOP list of how to grow afro-hair. This technique protects hair from dryness which is the #1 complaint among women of color. It allows afro-hair to reach ANY length your heart desires depending on how often you use the protective styles. This is how I grew my hair and now it is down to my waist. As qwerty stated above you do need to have patience and remain consistent but it works WONDERS!!
From all my years of experience as a hair stylist, I would suggest that the first thing you do for your African American hair is to keep it moisturized and treat it often to a deep condition. Here is a good homemade conditioner that will soften, smooth, and moisturize your hair and roots.
Mix 2 tablespoons of Mayonnaise and 1 egg. Let it sit on your hair for at least an hour. If you have a hair bonnet dryer, sit under it for 30 minutes with this on your hair. It will tame and soften your new growth. Try this 2-3 times a week.
The next thing you need to understand is that you can grow your hair by using a good, all natural hair growth product. Stay away from the drugstore, beauty supply, and commercial shampoos. If you buy most, if not all, of your hair care products from traditional drugstores and beauty supply stores, you are most likely buying hair-damaging products that are full of nothing good for your hair. Just because it says Dr. Miracles super hair growth oil doesn鈥檛 mean it contains things that actually stimulate hair growth. Trust me, you need to read the ingredients and not just the title of the product. For healthy hair growth to occur, avoid products that contain even the slightest amount of synthetic emulsifiers and harsh detergents, such as Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate, Phosphates, Dimethicone, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate. These products are loaded with toxins and chemicals that dry and strip your hair of everything it needs to grow.
The best all-natural product that is truly for your hair type and has proven results is Beauty 4 Ashes Super Hair Growth Shampoo and Conditioner. I recommend it to all of my clients and use it myself. It has aloe vera, rosemary, neem, and a host of other goodies for your hair that make it grow long and fast and stay strong and healthy. Your hair will no longer break, shed or be unruly and unmanageable. It will even make your relaxers, if you relax, less frequent. Compared to other hair growth and natural products, including Nioxin and Carol鈥檚 Daughter, this costs a lot less and works better. Go to wwwdiscoverb4acom to find it.
If you don鈥檛 buy this, make sure you do your pre-treatment. And don鈥檛 get your haircut, unless it is extremely damaged. If your hair is splitting just get a minor trim, all you need is 录 inch trim.
Remember to eat a lot of protein, especially fish for essential fatty acids. If you are a vegetarian, eat lots of legumes and beans. Drink 8-10 glasses of water and take B vitamins.
eat healthy and live healthy

Natural black hair to warm brown?
I want to use Natural Match by Loreal to turn my naturally dark, pretty much black hair to a warmer brown color. But I am always hearing about these horror stories about people who have tried to change their hair color by themselves at home. I know it's hard to go from black to anything lighter. I just don't want my hair to fall out or turn orange or anything.
So any suggestions? Should i try this myself?Natural black hair to warm brown?
Loreal is very good, i highly doubt anything bad will happen
to your hair. my hair is also pretty much black and i went to a medium brown.. i got it done somewhere, but i know many people who use loreal, and it works good.
buuut honestly you should keep your black hair,
i want mine back sooo badd.
i'm letting it grow outt
%26amp; its taking foreverr :/Natural black hair to warm brown?
okay i dont think you should use a box color because you really never know what your going to get! is there a sally beauty supply near you? if there is just go and get a 4N permanent color and mix it with equal parts of 20 vol developer. process for 40 mins. that will lift you and bring out some warmth. good luck!

Are there any serious damaging consequences from using synthetic braiding hair on natural black hair?
There can be. Traction alopecia is your main concern. According to an article at eMedicine: ';Traction alopecia is a common cause of hair loss due to pulling forces exerted on the scalp hair. This excessive tension leads to breakage in the outermost hairs. This condition is seen in children and adults, but it most commonly affects African American women. I have natural black hair and I am looking to dye my hair lighter. Can someone please give me some help?
I am willing to spend up to $250 if that helps.I have natural black hair and I am looking to dye my hair lighter. Can someone please give me some help?
lightening dark hair is tricky. I dyed my hair black, and tried making it lighter and didn't work...I went to the salon to get it lightened, and the only thing they could do for me was to put highlights in my hair to make it lighter...She bouched it, and I had coppery hair and uneven high lights.
Now, although my experience was bad, if you go to a well known hair stylist or salon, ask for a consultation. They will go over the steps needs to lighten your hair. Don't do it with a box. You can seriously mess up your hair doing that. Its best to go to a salon that isn't a franchise, go to one that is, well, high end, one of a kind....Generally, they've got the best stylists. Look around as well for prices...The first place you go to might be expensive, but the next place might be cheaper.
Just make sure you can a consultation first before letting them dye it, make sure you understand exactly what they're going to do. You don't want to walk out of the place having orangish blah hair when you wanted a chocolatey brown.I have natural black hair and I am looking to dye my hair lighter. Can someone please give me some help?
Thanks for your help.
I am also wondering if a Level 7 Dark / Golden Blonde would be obtainable.
I am going to be using maslon and professional help.
If you are looking for an exact lighter tone ..you will have to go bleach first then dye it by the colour you want.
Or you could console your salon about a good effective hair dye which would give a lighter colour as you have dark hair, if you dont want to go bleached first.
Don't do it, it will ruin your hair because they have to bleach it first and that makes your hair snap. but if you really want it done, go to a proffessional hairdresser.

Can an Afro grow natural black hair?
I need a black women advice. I want to know if an afro (protective style) can grow my hair long. I want to grow my hair past mid back. Do I need braid, weaves, wigs ....to grow my hair. Can an Afro do the job? Would my hair grow faster in cornrows. Or it does not matter as long as it being taken care of? Thanks. Can an Afro grow natural black hair?
It doesnt matter as long as your hair is taken care of and as long as you don't use too many products. Can an Afro grow natural black hair?
Doesn't matter... but don't keep your hair in braids, over time it causes to much stress to your strands. Don't use hairdressing with mineral oil or petroleum. So put down the TCB and Blue Magic and start using natural oils! I LOVE this product...http://www.curls.biz/curly-hair-products鈥?/a>

How can I dye my natural black hair to dark blonde?
How can I dye my natural very black hair to dark blonde without using bleach ?
thank youHow can I dye my natural black hair to dark blonde?
dunk it in the toiletHow can I dye my natural black hair to dark blonde?
I don't know that you can. I have naturally dark blonde hair, but I dyed it black recently and tried to get it back to my natural color and it didn't work. If we're speaking of box hair dye, it's not possible. However, I think you can get that done at a salon :)
If you are worried about damaging your hair, then you should ask your stylist what to use on it AFTER you bleach it.
I really don't think that there's any other way to do that. You could check out an organic place and see what else to do; I believe that henna is used in some cases.
Oh, wait; try soaking it in vinegar. :)
i dont think you can, bc you cant add a lighter color to a dark color... the dark color will just overpower it, you have to lift the color and the only way ive heard of doing that is thru bleaching it :)
you'll need to bleach it babe, however don't bleach the whloe thing that will damage your hair,
i suggest getting full head of blonde foils and eachtime getting more, until you reach a nice shade of blonde its a heathier opition
you have to use bleach to get out the black, you cant dye your hair a lighter color because nothing will happen your hair is too dark. you should go get it professionally done
go to cvs or any place with hair dye ask a person who works there or ask someone who works at a salon they will most likely to say to get the dye and leave it in for however long he/she says
Go to the nearest store, and buy the dye for hair that comes out of the box.
Always put bleach in your hair befor coloring it! If you do not, your hair will turn orange! haha
Err you can't without bleach...and why the hell would you want to do that? yuk.
You have to use bleach. Be careful because it will fry your hair.
But ask a salon if your not sure.
Go to a saoln. I wouldn't try that one at home...it will look trashy when you're done.

I haven't tried it before, but I know that Manic Panic Flash Lightning made mine practically white from DYED red hair. You just have to use it a couple times. With black hair, I don't know. be prepared with a cheap bottle of black dye. [black is a really easy color, so it'd be just a waste to buy an expensive one].
It made my hair this white:

What is the problem with Natural Black Hair in todays society?
Now a days it's very hard for someone with natural hair to be accepted or get a job! What is the problem with me being me!What is the problem with Natural Black Hair in todays society?
Wow, what a bunch of morons. She's referring to BLACK hair, as in hair that's attributed to Black people, like nappy/kinky hair, or an Afro. I think they associate afros and locks with radical people or hippies, and they don't think that that's corporate. I DO know that you can sue if you feel that you were discriminated against because of something as lame as your hair. To me, as long as your hair is cleaned and well put together, I wouldn't care if it was natural, permed, in braids or locks. What is the problem with Natural Black Hair in todays society?
People today are interested in people who look like all the celeberities.
There's no problem with you, it's just that stupid people will always find somebody to hate.
Seriously...I'm getting tired of dark skinned people with blonde or bright red hair it looks fake. Be true to yourself. Same thing with super tan white chicks.
Employers who happen to be supremacists fear it, because they cannot easily identify you as being conformed by the guidelines of the western world.
I didn't think it could prevent you from getting a job...what job could possibly reject you because of your hair?!
are you serious? what is wrong with ppl? keep trying...everyone isnt so foolish
Because it's not the American image. If you don't look like majority of the population they want to alienate you. And if someone's not being hired because of their hair, isn't that discrimination? It's not about how you look, but how you preform the job.

Do people with natural black hair and natural blue eyes look fake?
cause that's wat i have and i have been told that it doesnt look real? (i am a guy btw)Do people with natural black hair and natural blue eyes look fake?
yea, blue eyes are a regressive gene. wear tints or something.Do people with natural black hair and natural blue eyes look fake?
If you have pale skin it looks great. Dark skin and it almost always looks fake. I have seen one person with darker skin where it looked good, and she was half german/ half black and had blue-green eyes.
Of course I have also seen people with blonde hair and blue eyes, but their tan was so dark it looked just plain freaky, especially if they eyes are light blue.:P
I always wanted somebody to look like this i think is rare and unique to look like this for me it looks nice fake and unreal i don't think so it looks right to me but everyone thinks different don't listen to those fools

it's just because that's a rare combination. it sounds gorgeous. I only know one person that has thoose features, and he's a looker
no, nt really! but it depends on the dye job! (by that i meanthe shade of black!)
Sometimes, I think they can. Like, if it's a really....jet black shade it can tend to look like a dye job.
No, I'd say unique :)
in my opinion no
i think its very pretty :)
it kinda depends but i think that would look REALLY good!! dosent sound fake, it actually sounds hott =]
i don't think so but i think it would look awesome.

it's even worse if you have a tan.
kinda, but i think that's a sexy combo!
not if its natural, but if you do the dye blck or blue contact lesnses it really does look fake. dont worry babe =D

Best way to dye natural black hair to a bright red?
my hair is quite sensitive and i want to dye it bright red from my natural black hair. whats the best, most painless way of doing it, obviously without damaging it? im looking for a tint similar to l'oreals ruby rush red. thanksBest way to dye natural black hair to a bright red?
you're going to have to bleach it. Even then, it may not look red. I tried to do it with a home bleaching kit and when my hair dried it was pumpkin orange! not bright red like the box said.
Play it safe and go to ask a professional, seriously. I had to redye it my color after the orange came out. Having to bleach your hair and dye it twice within three days is incredibly damaging. Paying for the assurance that your hair will turn out right is well worth the money!Best way to dye natural black hair to a bright red?
Personally i don't agree to dying your hair red because it stays for a while. i had dark brown hair and i dyed it a purply red and it washed out really quick, but i dyed it completely red the next time and it is still in from last summer.
so if your still for sure=
dye it a little lighter
then dye it red
goodluck
If you have Sally's Beauty Supply store close by go there if not got to their website. Try Loreal Hicolor Red Higlights. It is desinged for naturally dark hair. No prebleaching required. I've used it on really dark brown hair and it worked. Word of advice do your roots last. They turn faster. Trust me. Leave on at least 45 minutes.Do your roots the last 15 or 20 minutes.
This is a really hard question to answer,
Someone had send me this website and you'll come to a site that has all the info you need .
Hope this helps out some way :)

Eat a bunch of tomatoes and start farting. The methane gas which now has turned to red will dye your hair but could also burn your eyebrows so keep that in mind and wear sunglasses.
DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR!! Bleaching you hair can make its snap!!! your best bets are going to a hairdresser because he or she can make more even than a box! get it done professionalist!!
u have to bleach it out first
ive done it before
You may want to ask you're hair stylist but I don't think you can.I tried the same thing about a year ago and my stylist had to bleach my hair first turning it blond and then dyed it red.The red wasn't as bright as I wanted and I'm sure it wan't great for my hair. Also, when you go to a lighter color (everything is lighter than black) you're certain to get different results than the blond who just became a stunning red head in two hours. But ask your stylist anyway.
you're going to have to bleach it.

If you were me, would you dye your natural black hair color?
I have a long dark shiny black hair and haven't dyed it like 9 years ago by now and i'm thinking to change the color but still not sure about it because most of the girls are dying their hair and most of them became lighted hair and I like to look different with my dark hair. But still thinking about getting new look. So what do you advice me to keep on my natural hair color or go with dying? If you were me, would you dye your natural black hair color?
you should be happy with your black hair coz you are different and unique
every girl is dying her hair into blond or red just to look like all the others and think they are different but they all are same
and your hair is really healthy without dying it you wil have to cut about 2-3 inches or 5-7 cm if you dye it
i always have wanted to have black hair since i was a child
and you know how does the people say blonds are stupid brunettes are clever and the ones with black hair are beautiful
however there are a lot of people with brown hair less with blond but at least with black
that means it's totally rare
hope it helps =))If you were me, would you dye your natural black hair color?
Absolutely not. Keep your dark natural hair. It will take years for you to go back to that if you decide to go back. Plus if you dye dark hair lighter, you might have to use bleach to lighten it up first and that is so damaging and your hair wont ever feel the same until it grows out. And if you decide you don't like the color and want to change it, the more chemicals you put on will keep damaging it and breaking it.
My opinion is that you keep your natural hair color and just play with your makeup. Makeup is so changeable and you can transform your look anyway you want. If you want to play with your hair, get some clip in extensions any try some different styles.
I think natural black hair is soo pretty! you shouldn't dye it.. plus everyone is going blonde so it probably makes you stand out a little. it's also really hard to go lighter when you have dark hair.. and you might look kinda unnatural if you made your dark hair lighter. maybe if you want to try something different, you could get some highlights. or maybe tint your hair to a blue-ish black color.. that looks pretty cool. hope this helps! :)
Rather than making your whole hair a different color all together, try to get rid of the shiny-ness in your black hair, then and extensions or cut it, then put some faint red low lights, like, an auburn color. That's what I would do.
You should keep it black, that is a very pretty color. If you dye it lighter your going to have to keep getting retouches because you will be able to see your dark black roots growing out. Maybe some bangs and layers would do :)
I did and won't go there again.
I get more compliments with my hair now, than when I was experimenting with dyes %26amp; permanents.
Dark hair is hard to dye over maybe get some carmel highlights just for some contrast. And get a cute new short choppy look. You will definitely have a new look that can easily grow out if you hate it.
black hair is cool..but im the same as you i have black hair and im thinking about doing somethin with it...BUT i have no idea what to do...sorry this probably is no help..sorry

Would blonde hair dye make my natural black hair turn brown?
I want to dye my asian black hair brown, but I don't want to go through the continuous process of dying it with brown hair dyes to get it to the shade I want.
[Please do not suggest going to a hair salon.]Would blonde hair dye make my natural black hair turn brown?
blonde will most likely make it orange
i would bleach it then dye the brown shade you want
or go a few shades lighter than the color you wantWould blonde hair dye make my natural black hair turn brown?
It's possible but its risky that it would go gingery or too blonde and patchy, you'd need to use bleach.
You can buy hair dyes specifically to lighten dark hair-lloreal have one

What color highlights is best for natural black hair?
I am really tired of my black shoulder length hair. I think it looks soo dull. I have jet black hair that I think is a level 1 - 2. What color highlights should I get. It needs to be natural (yes, i'm the type of person who would go for blue highlights because of school rules ) I don't want red highlights. My whole family has them and I hate it. I have medium darkish skin tone. What color highlights is best for natural black hair?
I would try carmel or a light to medium brown shades. If you go to the right place they can put the highlight swatches up to your hair and you can get an example of what it might look like. The best way to look natural is to get them to look one to two shades lighter than your current color. They will also make your hair color pop and if you get them around your face add some definition. What color highlights is best for natural black hair?
Whatever you do, DON'T get blond highlights. It will look tacky and unnatural. Try to get highlights that are dark brown. Make them a shade or two lighter so that the highlights still look natural. Also, get them done without foiling so that they look more natural and less streaky.
well idk, like but my sister she has this really straight long black hair, and she did 2 stripe of blonde highlights, and it looks really good, some ppl go for red, but dat look kinda a punk, i meant if u're a punk for for it!!!
I know someone who had black hair and they put some natural looking Dark brown, witch makes it not look stripey. Its really cool with naturallyy black hair! Or even a golden lighter brown would look cool!
i think that a dark shade of brown with just a tiny tinge of red would look great with your skin...
but don't go for the light brown shades that looks almost yellow..
they would look awful....
no offense!
like a coppery color and yes i love blue i want blue tips but i cant have blue cuz of school
you should try just a few shades lighter than your normal hair color. dont go for any bright colors thats really tacky and not stylish at all.
I second Linda G. The dark coppery color will look cool.
Red or Blue it would look so good like that
you should go with red or blue!!!
Go for a dark copper. Looks cool with black hair.
chocolate brown
no blonde!!!
a dark brown is beautifull
a too light color looks cheap
Blond.

Do you think there is a place for modern and natural black hair products on the high street?
there are lots of new organic and revolutionary products on the internet but these are not available on the high street. do you think these products should be displayed to a wider audience where you can touch and smell them and gain advice from black hair care specialists.Do you think there is a place for modern and natural black hair products on the high street?
Probably. But i am not sure but I am pretty sure there probabaly somewhere.Do you think there is a place for modern and natural black hair products on the high street?
Yes I do think there is a need for these products.I used to work in an afro hair salon and I found the organic products to be the best of all.The salon also had a retail side and I found the organic range of products used to sell like hot cakes. As mentioned in one of the previous answers if you live in london you should be able to find these products,if not then maybe you could go to a local salon to see if they would order a trial range of products for you and other customers to try.
where do you live, becasue in london there are lots of black hair shops around, that have most of the things that you can get on the internet
Without a doubt. Natural hair and beauty products should be available to all people, of all races, both online and on the high street, not just in specific shops, or in specific areas with a high content of afro-caribbean residents. Beauty advisers should be able to advise women and men of any race on the best products for them from Superdrug, to Boots to Lush to the Body Shop to places like Harrods, Selfridges and Harvey Nicks. That is how it should be. Sadly, I think we are a long way off.
What the hell are u talking about elle55407 '; I am not black, but I assume these products aren't in the stores because there is not a great demand for them.';
Obviously she hasnt got any black friends! Its not like we can jus go out with nothing on our hair!! - Damn. U really would cross the street if u seen me au natural - coz it is SCARY (Try Diana Ross dragged through a bush backwards)!!!
In answer to ur question... Yes, I do think there is a place for these products and services on the high street....

Is it now elle.... well this is jus 4 u %26gt;
Ha!!
I do not have a complex - believe u me
Fact is - im not feeling how u say 'theres no demand' - if u do have black friends as u claim - u will know that 99% of us NEED hair products same way plants need light!! Therefore, there IS a demand!
What the asker is talking about is being able to walk into a store and seeing how they work with our type of hair, how good they smell etc... We cant all use hair gel designed for caucasians! And yes, some of us are interested in organic hair products too, which i have NEVER seen in a store!!
Go ask ur 'black friends' and see what they say...
Are we talking about black hair or afro hair? If you are talking about afro hair I think you are right in that there should be a wider selection on sale in the high street. You should be able to get advice and touch etc before you buy. I have a friend who is Egyptian and she has the wildest afro hair and she has difficulty finding products and so sticks to her ancient family remedies.
I have black hair and don't even bother looking for products to make it shine etc. What ever is on offer (BOGOF) is good enough for me.
Why not? There are modern and natural black people on the high street so why not hair products? Also why not ask a few black people in an opinion survey?
Of course they should, how else will people know what is available.
yes but i thought this was catered fo now why not do door to door catologue like Avon friend s would pass them around you get orders
i think it's a great idea i've never been able to go and fetch these items i have to order on line
i have no idea what you are trying to say?? and what is high street??
i live in manchester and a lot of place's sell hair products for black people...but i do think most big stores should sell these products
yes sounds good as lots of people want natural products that work instead of harsh chemicals
Where on earth do you go to 'touch and smell' hair products?? I am not black, but I assume these products aren't in the stores because there is not a great demand for them. Most products in stores either have a big distributor or are in high demand and have already been test marketed. A lot of products start out on the internet, and when they can prove they have the $ale$ to back their claims, they will eventually get into the mainstream.
JUST FOR YOU In4nt Luv!!
Actually, I do have black friends. LOTS of them. Not that it's any of your F'N BEEZWAX!! But I don't buy BLACK HAIR PRODUCTS. Just like the asker probably doesn't buy FAKE TANNING PRODUCTS. DUH!!
My point being, I was not exactly sure of the product she was referring to. There are TONS of products I can only buy on-line that aren't available in stores. BECAUSE UNLESS THE PUBLIC STARTS DEMANDING THEM, THEY ARE NOT MARKETABLE ENOUGH FOR THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
Sounds like you have a real complex, hon.

You are an IDIOT!! How many ORGANIC HAIR PRODUCTS do you see for whites?? I've seen maybe one that I can even think of. BECAUSE THERE IS NO DEMAND FOR ORGANIC HAIR PRODUCTS!! The question was, in case you didn't actually read it, ';do you think there is a place for modern and natural black hair products on the high street?'; She went on to mention all the organic products available on the internet. That's what I responded to. And HELLO!! There is NO DEMAND FOR ORGANIC HAIR PRODUCTS. Perhaps you should cruise the market and look for yourself.
And just to show how RACIST YOU ARE, perhaps we should ALL be able to test out the products first. Why should BLACKS have that privelege if no one else does?? Because GUESS WHAT?? Not all WHITES have the same type of hair, and not all gels work on all our hair the same way, either.
Perhaps you need to get your white friends and ask them yourself. If you HAVE ANY WHITE FRIENDS.
I DIDN'T SAY blacks don't need hair products. NOR DID I INFER there was no demand for black hair products. I SAID there was no demand for the ORGANIC BLACK HAIR PRODUCTS as this asker mentioned, or you would see them in stores.

I want to make a transition from relaxed hair to natural black hair?
my hair is relaxed currently, i relaxed it like a month and a half ago, but it grows so fast, its so thick now, you would think its natural, anyway i want to go natural, but without cutting it off to bald or something, is it possible for me to do this without starting afresh?I want to make a transition from relaxed hair to natural black hair?
you have 2 options:
1: chop it all off and learn to take care of your hair as it grows
1: cut it every now and then letting it grow out. (which is how I transitioned) over a period of 4 months i cut a couple inches at a time and just chopped the rest off a month ago with about 5 inches of hair left. Either way you need to make sure you keep your hair moisturized. there are a wealth of websites you can go to that will help you

happy transitioning!I want to make a transition from relaxed hair to natural black hair?
from what i heard u have to cut it sometime. good luck though i tried going natural but it's not for me i hate the texture
you can maybe keep braids in your hair until it grows the length you want it and then cut the relaxed hair off once it gets to the length you would like.
yes stop relaxing your hair
it would cut a bit if you stop relaxing but it's better than cutting the whole thing off and starting again.
Usually the best way is to cut bald. My sister uses Pantene conditioner and shampoo or u could use Dove. It works for her. You could try it! I rather start with Pantene.

How do i dye my natural black hair at home?
hi... i have natural black hair and i really want to color it a nice chocolate brown color. im opting to dye it myself because it would be really expensive for me at a salon since my hair is up to my waist. i heard that for dark haired people, the actual color that comes out will be a tad bit darker than the picture on the box. do you think if i dyed my hair a shade lighter, i would get the color i want? and do i have to bleach my hair first? (though i dont want to) thanks! How do i dye my natural black hair at home?
It is almost impossible to make dark hair lighter at home without it looking a bit fake. You can experiment with a temporary colour like Loving Care that washes out in 6 weeks. It might add some nice highlights without making it look too fake. Don't bleach it - you'll really regret doing that at home - it takes a professional salon to make that work. How do i dye my natural black hair at home?

AHHHHH!!! DO NOT BLEACH YOUR HAIR!!! It will make it feel icky and dry and your hair will never ever ever be the same color again. If you're just looking for something different you can try the wash-out color, but unfortunately wash-out color isn't much like permanent. Wash-out color just covers up the color of your hair, so it can not be lighter than your natural shade, while permanent color actually changes the real color of your hair. You should definitely check out some salons because they will know best.
If you have naturally black hair, the only way to get a different color would be to use bleach to lighten it to the level you would like, and then you can put the brown color over it. It is not necessary to lighten your hair to an even blond, just to the level you would like. For instance, your natural color is probably a level 2 unless you are Asian you would be a 1. Your chocoloate color is probably a 4-5. It is a very trying process and a salon is your only choice for an even, natural look. Sometimes though, dark hair absolutely cannot be lifted and if it is, there will be severe damage.

Can white people have natural black hair?
Can they? Can white people have natural black hair? Can white people have natural black hair?
yea.Can white people have natural black hair?
I'm half white lol I had raven black hair when I was little but now its like chocolate brown. and yes they can but some peoples hair color changes throughout their lives.
YYYYYYYEEEEESSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
but black people cant have white hair
I suppose so.
I'm portuguese and I have naturally black hair.
Yes, for example the Italian heritage!
How old are you...?
Yes - I've seen many white people with natural black hair. How do I know it's natural black? Because I've been intimate with several black-haired ladies.
Yes ofcourse, it just depends on your family's genes.
lol of course
yeah, im i white and i have black hair
Yeah if its in their genes:)
yeah i've seen several ';white'; people from Great Britain that had a natural black hair color like Catherine Zeta-Jones. They seem to be from Wales and Ireland. And of course theres the Italians, Spanish, and Portuguese, a lot of them have dark hair. They all could be mixed though, with Arab or African, because i read a book that suggested that nearly all ';white'; people have mixed ancestry, because in the Old World there was alot of trade and interchange between Africa, Europe and Asia, and the author suggested that dark skinned, dark haired white people just have a higher percentage of mixed genes, and if more white people had their DNA analyzed by a DNA ancestry company they would find that they are actually mixed, not pure. sorry can't think of the name though.
no their hair can only be pink or blue or green YES THEY CAN HAVE BLACK HAIR it usually in a trait they get from their ancestors
Yes.
the color black hair? yes
yes............ y did u ask that anyway?

How would you dye dark natural black hair (nappy) with bright colors, like hot pink or blue?
For bright colors, you'd have to go blonde first and then dye it with a bright semi-permanent hair dye like manic panic, fudge, or special effects. If you try to use the dye without lightening the natural color, it's like putting colored plastic wrap against black paper. At best, you'll be able to pick up some subtle highlights when the sun hits it.
The problem with dying your hair blue is that you have to bleach it to darn near white. If you dye it golden blonde and then add blue to it, you may end up with hair that has a slight greenish tint, depending on how yellow the hair is.
If you want to lighten your hair at home, there are at home hair dye box kits for people of color like Hi-Rez by soft sheen-carson. I've never tried their blonde color, but I did use a red shade that came out more vivid then any of the mainstream home dye kits. I think with home hair dye kits marketed towards people of color, they formulate it assuming you're using it on dark brown to black hair.
Of course, there's nothing wrong with getting it professionally bleached either. Just depends on $$$/how comfortable you are dying your own hair/how comfortable you are trusting a stylist to do it right.
And there's always the option of colored extensions. How would you dye dark natural black hair (nappy) with bright colors, like hot pink or blue?
I wouldn't go all bright do highlights or just get the tips done. How would you dye dark natural black hair (nappy) with bright colors, like hot pink or blue?
I would do more of a deep dark blue
You would first have to use bleach to lift out the dark pigments in your hair and then color over it again with the bright color. I would suggest seeing a professional to achieve the best results!
dye the selected area blonde first so the bright colours have something to absorb onto to make em stand out

If you have natural black hair is it possible to dye your hair blonde or get blonde highlights?
Just asking, I don't have black hairIf you have natural black hair is it possible to dye your hair blonde or get blonde highlights?
Yea bleach does it,but it may take a few times of it.If you have natural black hair is it possible to dye your hair blonde or get blonde highlights?
both are possible, but blonde highlights would be easier to have done.
i think that when trying to go a lighter color with such dark hair you would have to bleach out the natural color first.
i'm not sure though
yea they usually bleach it really light and then dye it to the color you say you want. it can look really natural too. thats wha t i did
yes you can, you will have to bleach the hair first, which can be damaging, but you can get it to a blonde color.

What hair color will you have if you have natural black hair and you used lemon juice?
plz just give the answer. thank youWhat hair color will you have if you have natural black hair and you used lemon juice?
It depends how sunny it is outside when you put the lemon juice in your hair. So just go outside with the lemon juice in you hair until you are satisfied with your hair color. What hair color will you have if you have natural black hair and you used lemon juice?
I do this A LOT. I have natural black hair meaning it's black, but against the sun it's brown. So everytime I go in the sun I use lemon juice and it works great. I've always wanted to give my hair a little bit of brown to it, and now you can see some brown even when it's not against the sun.
It will turn your hair dark brown. If you contine to use it it will get lighter each time but i think the lightest it will get is a medium brown. I have naturally black hair and with continued use of lemon juice it is a pretty brown color that is hilighted in the sun.
An ugly blackish brownish...
The only way to highlight black hair is to go to a hairdresser and allow them to give you highlights the correct. way.
Lemon juice won't work on dark hair, It barely works on Blonde. If it does work, It would turn your hair orange. But I doubt it will work.
Black hair still...
Yuck. It will be total YUCK.
i don't think that's meant for anyone other than blondes
brunette like us need something else....
watch out, it might turn orange :-\skin care

Anyone know of a product that straightens natural black hair and it's not a perm. It comes in a 12oz bottle?
I saw this product in an ad a while ago and it stated it was the perfect option for women of color who want to straighten their hair without a perm. It was either a liquid, lotion or shampoo.Anyone know of a product that straightens natural black hair and it's not a perm. It comes in a 12oz bottle?
Culture: 7 day relaxer....I have some, its a lotion you apply before blow drying. I have natural hair and tried to use it, but was not impressed at all.Anyone know of a product that straightens natural black hair and it's not a perm. It comes in a 12oz bottle?
I know what you're talking about, a lot of people use it for their children's hair to make it manageable. It's some kind of lotion that's applied after you shampoo and you blow dry the hair with a comb attachment or round brush - it will relax the hair a good bit, but you'll still need to flat iron.
Good Lord, I thought this stuff tasted weird

Unique color suggestions for natural black hair?
I'm really bored with my hair. I wanted to get blonde highlights but it seems that would be too damaging. What is something unique that I could do with my hair? Anything that does not involve bleaching my hair would be nice ^^. Thanks.Unique color suggestions for natural black hair?
You could ask the hairdresser to do you some purple highlights, a dark purple really warms natural black hair. I have seen it on many people, and it looks really nice. Or maybe red, ive heard that looks cool. Try looking in hair colour magazines to see other suggestions for black hair. I'm jealous, as i have naturally dark blonde hair, and cannot experiment with colours like that. Hope i helped (:Unique color suggestions for natural black hair?
you should get a light brown-medium brown highlights - that would look good (better than the blonde)
i have black hair too - its dyed tho and i am trying to grow out my natural brown color so right now my hair is half and half
i wear it so it looks like the underneath looks black and everything else brown (its pretty cool)

What will the sun do to natural black hair?
i have natural black hair and im going to be in the sun more often for summer and i just wanted to know what color the sun will turn my hair or do to it
is the sun bad for your hair??????????What will the sun do to natural black hair?
well from personal experience.....
i used to have naturally jet black hair. but over the years it has gotten lighter and lighter and now its like a sandy brown color i dont really think its bad for your hair its just that it may [or may not] turn it a lighter color. What will the sun do to natural black hair?
No, I don't think it'll do much as to the color, but it might burn it :S... try wearing a hat sometimes, but i think that in general if you get sun in moderation, it won't cause any harm. You could also try putting hair treatments on before you go to the beach!
nothing

Can you dye (not natural) black hair any lighter colours effectively at home without bleeching it?
I have been dying my hair black around 10 months now, but it has not been dyed in the past 4 months and the colour doesn't seem to fade at all. I was thinking along the lines of dark auburn or a lighter shade of brown, for eg. espresso. My hair would naturally be dark brown. Can you dye (not natural) black hair any lighter colours effectively at home without bleeching it?
Black is probably the worst color to put in your hair ever!! Because any time you try to bleach it out it either turns your hair orange or pink. depending on your undertones in your natural hair.
Then if you go to a professional to bleach it out it is still going to be two different colors becuase of your roots and your black color are going to life to different levels.
What you need to do is either go to a salon and let them put a soap cap on your hair and life it maybe a level or two and then let them tone it to the color it lifted too.
Or put baking soda in your shampoo and and try to lighten it up that way. Either way its kinda a lose lose situation.
SorryCan you dye (not natural) black hair any lighter colours effectively at home without bleeching it?
no, color will not take on another color. you'll have to strip it first.
The only way you'll be able to lighten your hair from black is to have it stripped.
Go to a hairdressers and have it done though! They put the highest % of peroxide on your hair and it takes all the colour out so you can go a lighter colour. I had that done when I wanted to go from black to brown.
For the first few times dying it after you've had it stripped it may look a bit blended, as though you have more than one colour in your hair. But over time the black will fade.
If you have your hair stripped go to a hairdressers! So many people I know who have stripped their black hair at home have turned out bright orange!
Absolutely not. Black is the hardest color to strip off your hair. I don't want to count the number of times people have came to my cousins salon with their hair totally ******. Even if you bleach it, the color that is applied after the bleaching may not be true, if it even takes evenly at all. Go to a professional.
How to Pick the Right Hair Color based on your hair color and undertone to avoid color failure
http://geebal.blogspot.com/2007/10/how-t鈥?/a>
Bleach is such a harsh word. You said your hair is not naturally black, that it's colored. Well, color does not lift color. You will need to lighten your hair with bleach but I do not recommend doing your entire head. I would start with highlights all over and lighten up two or three levels. That's safer and you will notice a change. You can do this every 8-12 weeks meaning that if you lighten your hair every two months in 6 months you will be a dark blond, light brown. And I would definitely suggest taking a trip to the salon, it will save you money in the long run.
no, its too dark, You cant go from black to light brown. You have to bleach it first
no you can't, i had the same situation as you as i dyed my hair black for about a year then decided for a change, so i didn't dye it for months.
you can get it back to a medium brown at the most, by using vosene and tea tree shampoos etc... that will help to lift the black off somewhat, however, this takes alot of time so i would recommend getting it stripped and not bleached, i did this and mine went ginger and then i was able to dye it brown ontop of the ginger.
it is highly damaging to the hair this way but just use hair masks often to get it back to normal
in a word, no.
i had the same problem. if you have used a permanent dye im afraid you will have to have it stripped, however if you used a semi permanent then it should start to fade soon and other dyes may be able to cover it. However getting advice from your local hairdresser would be advised.

Can japanese straightening be done on natural black hair?
Does anyone know if japanese hair straightening works on natural black hair? I know that you can't do it on hair that has been previously relaxed due to breakage. I read one source that says it doesn't, but another source that says it does. I found one picture from a hair salon that did it and it looked really good... but I wasn't sure how reliable it was and it said you had to have mixed ethnicity hair (black and something else). Any opinions? Experiences? Can japanese straightening be done on natural black hair?
I have a Japanese hair stylist, and I wanted that soooo, sooo bad, but she said '; NO';
Reason #1. It wasn't made with African hair in mind, it was made for Asian people with that Hard thick curly hair. Their hair isn't the same as ours. It is in a way, straight, but with mad curl/wave. Ours is fine and curly.
Reason #2. It will not get it bone straight, it will have possibly some wave, or have that puffy look to it, so the Flat iron is still used. Even in the salon, they still use a flat Iron to give it mad straightening effect.
Reason #3. At just under $500.00 a treatment, you will need to spend about $200.00 every 6 weeks or so(depending on growth rate) to do touch ups. And if you do decide that you can't afford to keep doing it, your on;y option would be to cut off the relaxer, keep using a flat iron on the regrowth.
I lost all hope of doing it...truly i did want it, but after hearing about all that..plus the money it would cost to maintain it...I lost interest.
But I don't know you or your wallet...;) so if you can keep it up, then by all means try it...and good luck
Yes i am Mixed Blk/Wht...Can japanese straightening be done on natural black hair?
i was in school for cosmetology and japenes hair straighning is suppose to be the best. if you have a previous relaxer it will cause breakage especially if it is a sodium hydroxide relaxer. it doesnt matter the color of ur hair.
I am a hairstylist and they make it seem as tho it good for your hair it will make healthy and shiny . I have seen people with chunks of breakage and extremely damaged hair .
I wouldn't recommend it for anyone!skin care

Can you recommend a good setting lotion for natural black hair?
My hair is chemical free. When I style it the style only lasts about 6 hours on a good day unless I'm wearing braids, twists, an updo or an afro. I'd like to wear my wavy and curly styles longer so I need a setting creme or lotion to help. Anyone with natural hair or natural curly or natural kinky hair know of a good product I can use for this kind of style? I can get it STRAIGHT then wave it but you know...that style's flopped and frizzed before the end of the party! Help! Can you recommend a good setting lotion for natural black hair?
I have recently discovered (organic root stimulator) Anti-frizz Olive oil Glossing Polisher. So far so good and staying that way. It is a clear liquid in a transparent container, quite light and not greasy. Hope it works for you. An afro is not easy to keep tidy especially in cold weather. I hear you... I am really thinking of going bald! Can you recommend a good setting lotion for natural black hair?
run out of the party as fast as you can,if not, then you will be insulted.attend short parties.
Try LottaBody Setting Lotion my curls for a few days without re-applying the setting lotion, but I also roll up my hair nightly.
Wear a blonde wig
then maybe your name should be flopped and frizzed instead of sleek?

How do I get back to my natural (black) hair color?
I dyed my hair 6 months ago using a permanent dark brown. My black hair is growing out with the roots showing. How do I get my natural black hair back? I'm thinking of dying it w/ a SEMI PERMANENT darker brown or black..but will it come off after I SHAMPOO it a few times or would it just fade?? Should I dye it or let it grow? Any suggestions..I want my black hair back and I will never ever dye my hair again but I DON'T want to cut it!! Thanks..How do I get back to my natural (black) hair color?
Get a hair dye that matches your natural black hair (permanent) with a good brand like Loreal Paris Natual Match, and the dye your hair back. Eventually, your hair will grow back and you won't even be able to tell the difference! Trust me, this works! How do I get back to my natural (black) hair color?
i had a lot of blond in my hair and i wanted my natural brown back so what i did is i died it a really dark brown and kept dying it until my hair grew out. In your case, dye it black and wait until your hair grows out. its really the only way.
No matter what you do it will take awhile to get back to all your natural color, it will cost significantly More to go to salon and have them dye your hair.
any dye even if it is permanent will fade and ';wash out';. Your best bet is to do what everyone said and get a semi permanent that is close to you natural color, or even try a color rinse both of which will be very gentle on you hair.
If you are dyeing you hair and get the dye on your skin it will stain. Think about it a bit , you want this stuff to stay in your hair till it grows out so it has to be strong. If you are dying your hair yourself wear old clothes and get as little on your skin as possible ( this is easier if you have a Friend help) then if you get dye on your skin wipe it off as soon as possible. The dye will fade off of your skin and if you get it right away it wont stain.

How can i make natural black hair grow?? Any suggestions?
Any natural remedies that i can use?How can i make natural black hair grow?? Any suggestions?
First nad foremost, black hair doesn't contain the oil that white hair does. DO NOT SHAMPOO YOUR HAIR EVERYDAY. It will dry the hair, make it brittle and it will break. The best option for growing your hair depends on the chemicals you use...If you are regularly relaxing your hair, make sure a conditioner is applied right after the relaxer(before the neutralizing shampoo). Shampoo your hair weekly, and make sure you condition like every other shampoo. Oil your scalp to maintain the moisture in the scalp and hair shaft. Get your hair trimmed regularly, and limit the use of products that contain alcohol. There is nothing wrong with sleeping with your hair in a wrap-it breathes all day long. Sleep in a silk hair wrap or cap to avoid breakage, or use a silk pillowcase. Above all of what I just suggested, GOING NATURAL is the easiest way beccause chemicals are what damage our hair the most. Please contact me if you have any other questions.
Also, GNC has a supplement called ';Nourishair'; that makes the hair grow faster, you can read what's in it by googling it. Be warned these pills are HUGE and you have to take 2 a day.
Also ProCaps labs sells a ';hair skin and nails'; formula that does the same thing, supports hair growth and health, and is smaller and easier to swallow.
If you take only Biotin alone, make sure you take at least 2.5 milligrams or 2500 micrograms [the same thing] a day because thats' a good amount to take. I use the Nourshair supplement from GNC now and my hair is growing faster than it did, but it took about 6 to 8 weeks of daily use to see resultsHow can i make natural black hair grow?? by shampooing weekly with a moisturizing shampoo and alternating weekly with a protein conditioner and a moisturizing conditioner. Tie your hair down at night with a sil/satin bonnet/scarf. On the days you are not washing you can spray with a moisturizer/leave in. Since your hair is natural you can do co-rinses every 2-3 days if your hair needs a little extra moisture.Stay away from heat appliances like blow dryers and flat irons. Taking a multi-vitamin and eating a proper diet always helps make the hair healthier and thicker.
