If I dyed my natural black hair blonde, will it go brown?

Someone said that to get my naturally black hair a light-ish brown colour, I should dye it blonde. Would this work?If I dyed my natural black hair blonde, will it go brown?

Depends what blonde color, and how long you have the dye in. If you have the dye in for the usual amount of minutes, it will turn a oranfgish brown. But if you leave it in only half the usual time, it will be more brown. But every hair is unique and different, so try dyeing your hair on your leg/arm as a tester to see how it turns out If you don't like it, you can always shave it off and know not to or to dye your hair :)
if you go to the hair dressers they would most likely recommend to gradually dye it blonde by putting foils in it. every couple months.


or if you wanna do it yourself use poroxide and that powder stuff. theres not time limit to leave it in you just have to wait til it goes through some stages... first it will go reddy orange colour. because when you bleach hair all the warm colours need to come out first! you just need to wait for it to go a white sort of colour if ya get me... if it ends up orange buy some toner. and Pastel violet blonde (10v) it's only about 10 or 15 bucks for a hairdressing salon.
you cant make dark hair go lighter without bleaching it. there are kits at walmart for going lighter. what i do is i leave the treatment on my hair (i have naturally black hair) for the max amount of time. *the treatment is a bleaching solution*. then my hair is pretty blonde. once im done that, i dye it to the color that i want. it always looks great.


once your hair is stripped of its color, any hair dye u put in will take.


remember, u cant just get dye and think it'll change ur black hair color...wont work...

I wouldn't recommend that. My friend had dark hair and she used a blonde dye (not bleach) and it actually went orange. I would say try using a light brown dye first, and if that doesn't work, try a dishwasher blonde, if that fails, then talk to your hairdresser.
I woul go that light if i was you, You have to work your way down from black to brown to light brown to blonde because otherwise you damaged your hair too much and it can just brake off.

You'd have to use a lot of bleach to dye it blonde if your hair is black. It might take a few goes to get it the blonde you want.

Try dying it brown to begin with then wait afew weeks (so it doesnt fall out) then try blond, or get a hairdresser to do it. Hope that helped x
no it may go orange or green, if you are doing that i would suggest a professional hair dresser the first time then touch it up your self
Yp they wud turn brown but wud look naturaly hip hotty.
