Natural black hair to warm brown?

I want to use Natural Match by Loreal to turn my naturally dark, pretty much black hair to a warmer brown color. But I am always hearing about these horror stories about people who have tried to change their hair color by themselves at home. I know it's hard to go from black to anything lighter. I just don't want my hair to fall out or turn orange or anything.


So any suggestions? Should i try this myself?Natural black hair to warm brown?
Loreal is very good, i highly doubt anything bad will happen


to your hair. my hair is also pretty much black and i went to a medium brown.. i got it done somewhere, but i know many people who use loreal, and it works good.

okay i dont think you should use a box color because you really never know what your going to get! is there a sally beauty supply near you? if there is just go and get a 4N permanent color and mix it with equal parts of 20 vol developer. process for 40 mins. that will lift you and bring out some warmth. good luck!
