How do i color my natural black hair??

I have perfectly black colored hair(my natural color), but i want to change it now to may be dark/med auburn, how do i do it?

Also doing it always in a salon will be pretty expensive, so how do i do it at home with the store bought color??How do i color my natural black hair??
DONT COLOUR U'R HAIR.IT WILL BE BAD.LET U'R HAIR BE NATURAL AS IT WAS.58 PER CENT PEOPLE IN THE WORLD GOT A CANCER BECAUSE OF THE CHEMICAL EXCTRACT ON IT.and MOREOVER MY FREND GOT HER HAIR BADLY DAMAGED AFTER USING IT.U NOT SEE THE EFFECTS NOW.BUT SOON IT WILL SCARE U.TRUST ME.A HEALTHY HAIR OR COLOURFUL,BEAUTIFUL HAIR.How do i color my natural black hair??
zanytanya has right. bleach it and then colour in any colour u want :) i did it and have now red hair :P
Try using the highlighting kits for blonde hair. They will lighten your black hair to the color you want, and you can easily watch it as it works, then rinse it out when it gets to the desired color.

And the ';reddish'; strands, framing your face, will change your look entirely, without the damage that will come from all over lightening.
Why do you want to color your hair? It wouldn't look nice, trust me.
Try a Burgundy or Red,go to the store and look on the boxes, they will tell you what the color will look like on your natural hair color and then take it from there, ask a friend to help you or you can follow the directions and do it yourself!! In my experience with salon coloring is that it faded out like in 2 months, but with the box color it lasted longer in my hair.
Carefully, you don't want to ruin your beautiful hair! Try a natural henna rinse, it should give your hair a beautiful reddish tinge and is easy on your hair and skin. Chemical dyes are quite toxic and eventually ruin your hair. Good thing it keeps growing!
have u tried the new revlon colours? i just put medium auburn in mine and it looks great.
highlight your hair first then wait for 2-3 weeks then apply any color of ur choice then it'll come out just SPECTACULAR.. as u wished for..:)
Bleach it a bit, then colour it.

PS: Use hair bleach %26amp; developer (available cheap at drugstores, I use White Magic developer and Jerome Russel powder bleach, mix equal parts), don't use ';laundry bleach';. Once it's worked through all yer hair, leave it on until desired lightness is acheived (probably a medium brown for the colour you want).
you would need to bleach it 1st. then dye it. start from the tips up to the roots as the color will absorb more at the roots and dont forget to put your hair in sections to ensure even color.
hey...try this: go to your local sally's (or whatever) and get some lightener, plus developer...apply to ends and midsection first (everything but the roots)...leave on for a while, then plop on the roots. You only want to lighten a little bit. Then put on the color you want--you can ask the sally's people to help you out with this.
