I would recommend the use of henna.
This is a botanical extract from a flowering plant called henna (Lawsonia inermis). In India, women use it for hair dye as well as for body painting. However, the FDA only approved it for hair dye use but not for being applied straight to the skin.
Henna gives a mild mahogany color to hair as well as a beautiful shine. It lasts approximately 5-6 weeks, depending on how often you wash your hair.
A less lasting colorant, also less harsh in color is chestnuts: wash your hair in the water that remains after cooking not peeled chestnuts - though careful, let it cool first. This method gives only a mild reddish shine, but doesn't really color, and comes out with the next wash.
I hope it was helpful! How do i dye natural black hair to a mahogany color without bleach or a salon?
You can't, there is no product that can lighten hair without bleach, it does not exist. In order to turn black to mahogany you need to lighten it first. If you just dye it the mahogany colour it won't be noticeable over black, not even a glint of it in the light.
There is no such thing as natural ';black'; hair for starters - its just a shade of brown. Secondly there is no product on this planet that will lighten hair other than a bleach based product!
